What is so ecological about hemp?
Industrial hemp is an amazingly useful plant that has been grown worldwide for centuries. Many historians even consider it to be the first cultivated crop, with research dating its origin back to 4000 B.C. Hemp also grows remarkably fast (it can be harvested in just 3 months), and is naturally resistent to pests and disease. Growing hemp requires no irrigation, pesticides, or fertilizer. In systems of crop rotation it can be used as a soil improver. Bottom line: in comparison to conventional cotton, which requires enormous amounts of chemicals and relies heavily on irrigation, hemp is far more ecological and sustainable.
Fact: Using 55% hemp in a t-shirt instead of 100% cotton saves over 100 gallons of water
Will My Hemp Shirt Fade Over Time?
Hemp's water absorbing properties means that it will retain dye better than any other fabric material (including cotton), keeping your colors from fading better than even the best laundry detergent.
What is Ron Paul Hemp doing for Ron Paul's campaign?
While Ron Paul Hemp is not affiliated with Congressman Paul's campaign, we are proudly showing our support by implementing a “12% for '12” promise, donating 12% of store profits to local liberty movements to help get Ron elected president in 2012.
What is Ron Paul's stance on hemp?
Ron Paul, having great respect for the 10th
amendment, believes that states should decide for
themselves whether or not to allow the production
of hemp. He has introduced bills (including his
most recent, The Industrial Hemp Farming Act) to
allow states to decide for themselves on the issue.
Do hemp shirts contain THC?
No. Our shirts are 100% THC-free. This also means
they will not get you high, so don’t bother trying!
Are hemp and marijuana the same thing?
No. Marijuana and hemp are NOT the same thing.
Hemp and marijuana both belong to the same
species, cannabis, but the similarities end there.
Hemp is used strictly for its industrial qualities,
while its cousin marijuana is used for its
recreational and medicinal drug properties.
The difference between the two is exactly akin to
the differences between a Pomeranian and a Great
Dane. Both are dogs (just like marijuana and hemp
are both cannabis), but the attributes between the
two are entirely different (with one
getting you high, the other being purely industrial,
etc).
Are hemp products legal?
Yes! Hemp is absolutely 100% legal to possess,
import, and otherwise use for just about any
industrial purpose. You just can't grow it. Silly, right?
